I’ve prided myself on having a spiritual side
Well balanced with a practical side,
Because it meant I wouldn’t get so caught up in dreamland
That stuff wouldn’t get done.
And it’s so interesting because,
Yes, stuff always got done,
And there’s a lot of reward for that in this world,
But you can get so busy celebrating your no-nonsense side,
That you believe dreaming and ungrounded risks
Are for those who lack discipline.
That dreaming is a fluffy, waste of time.
There’s absolutely a place for practical
When you tip the scales in your life
In favor of practicality,
You limit your reach.
Because practical doesn’t hit new ground.
Practical creates from experience, instead of possibilities
You’ve got to be unreasonable
To live more than you already know.
