Eleanor Roosevelt said, “you must do the thing you think you cannot do.”
I never really liked the saying
Because, at the time, I was already afraid enough.
And it’s interesting
To think about being afraid doing things I don’t want to do.
And being afraid doing things I DO want to do.
And if I’m going to be afraid,
I’d rather have it be in service to the things I want to do,
Feel called to.
Even as I don’t feel that mythical place of “ready.”
The “ready” part comes in the activity.
As I’ve started doing this,
I see that doing the thing,
In addition to being scary, :)
But it’s also like
Seeing a span of beautiful, radiant, amazing light,
And moving your hand into it.
And feeling exhilarated,
I think I would say
You must do the thing you wish you could do but think you cannot…
Because in that journey
Is so much beauty.
Because that journey
Will crack you open in uncomfortable and beautiful ways!
